The BIOX Process In Action

BMS, Inc. has developed the BIOX® Process to overcome the limitations and risks involved when using liquid hydrogen peroxide as an oxidizing agent. The BIOX® Process rapidly and safely destroys a wide variety of organic contaminants a near neutral pH and at ambient groundwater temperatures.  Oxidizing agents are generated in-situ and over an extended time to maximize contact with the contaminants.

Typical BIOX® Reactions:
Low contaminant concentration reaction
Low contaminant concentration reaction.

Chemical oxidation phase of a BIOX reaction
Medium contaminant concentration reaction.

High contaminant concentration reaction
High contaminant concentration reaction.

High contaminant concentrations are limiting to microbial growth.  The BIOX® Process solves this problem by reducing contaminant concentrations through chemical oxidation before entering the biodegradation phase.  Upon completion of the oxidation phase, contaminant concentrations are significantly reduced and the reagents begin generating dissolved oxygen.  The long-term presence (up to 1 year) of dissolved oxygen and residual nutrients stimulates microbial growth and metabolic activity further reducing contaminant concentrations.
